The steamship "Kings County", heading for Saint John, was wrecked at 2 a.m. on December 11, 1936, near Tyner's Point, on the shore below Saint John. A brave young Norwegian seaman, Herold Hansen, swam to shore through the raging seas, towing a rope which he secured ashore and by which all the rest of the crew were carried to safety.
